| :I can't figure out the Karaoke Box controls, please help. |
| It's
simple, really. First, choose a song from the playlist and note down its
corresponding number (e.g. 001 for Yubiwa). Type it on the Song Number
text box of the Karaoke Box. Then, if you want to sing the song with vocals
(to practice a bit), click on the LOAD VOCAL button. If you're
confident enough that you can sing without the vocal, click on the LOAD
KARAOKE button. The controls on the right hand side of the Karaoke Box makes the song Stop, Pause, or Play. |
| :How large are the karaoke files? Do I need a fast connection to be able to play them? |
| Each file is around 500-800kb each, depending on the length of the actual song, but you do not have to finish downloading the entire file before you can play it. They are optimized to stream smoothly on connections of at least 52kbps. People with slower connections can still play them, but might experience intermittent stops the first time they load the song. However, once a song is downloaded completely, it is saved on your computer's cache, so it will run smoothly the next time it is played. |
| :I am on a slow connection and the song intermittently stops at certain parts of the song, what can I do? |
| The first time you load a song, the karaoke automatically stops to wait for you to download around 5 seconds of music before it continues playing. This is not noticeable on faster connections because they are always able to download more than that at any given time; however, on slower connections it could be a drag. I suggest clicking on the Karaoke Box's Stop Button (NOT your browser's Stop button), and waiting 10-20 seconds before you play it again. This will give time for your computer to download enough of the song so it will play smoothly. Don't worry, after you've played the whole song once, it gets saved in your computer's cache, so you won't have to download it again next time. |
| :Why create a Karaoke Box with only Japanese songs? |
| Well.
Originally, I made this for me, a weird woman who likes Japanese music
and karaoke, but can't read enough Japanese to get her through any Japanese
karaoke video. So I thought, 'Hey maybe I should make my own karaoke,
where the words will be written in Romaji and I can actually sing along!'
So I made my own karaoke songs, and pretty soon other people who share
my obsession started coming out of the woodwork..... Anyway, I added a Miscellaneous section, for when I feel like making some karaoke of non-Japanese tunes. |
| :Where do you get your karaoke (non-vocal) tracks? |
| Most jrock tracks are from my own CD singles, the rest are from mp3s I download from WinMX and Kazaa. If you want to buy original Japanese albums and singles, I highly recommend CD Japan; I have never had any problems dealing with them. Recently, I also found animekaraokes.com, which contains a lot of anime and game karaoke mp3s available for download. |
| :Do you accept requests? |
| Sure! Just post a note in our LJ Community. If I have the karaoke version of the song, and if I have the time, I will put up your requests. I can't guarantee anything, though. Most songs really don't have any karaoke versions released, and some older songs are just too hard to find. |
| :Can I share Karaoke mp3s with you? |
| Yes, I'm sure everyone would appreciate it! Please upload them and announce the links in our LJ Community. It would help if you send us the vocal version as well so we can practice. I can't promise that I can add all songs to the site, however, as work really messes up my Karaoke life heh. But at least you know your song is with me, right? :) |
| :Aren't you violating a million copyright laws when putting these stuff online? |
| Am I? HAHHAHAAAAAA~~~ Ehrm... firstly, the karaoke files are only FM radio quality (maybe less). Secondly, I don't profit from the site. Thirdly, they should even be thanking me for helping popularize their songs, ne? heheheh. Yeah. *hides* |
